Sayyidah Nafeesah Al Misriyyah (Raliya Allahu Anha)
Real followers of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alihi Wasallam love Him than their parents, children and others and even themselves as it is clear from the following Hadeeth and many other Ahadeeth.
“None of you become a true believer unless I become his beloved than his offspring, his parent and all human being”
This spiritual love which binds together string of faith among Muslim Ummah won’t stop at Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alihi Wasallam only. The love extends to Ahlu Bait of Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alihi Wasallam. One can realize this love and respect towards Ahlu Bait passing through generations of Muslim Ummah from authentic history.
Full lineage of this great saint lady is Sayyidah Nafeesah bint Hasan ul Anwar bin Zaid ul Ablaj bin Hasan bin Ali/Fatima bint Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alihi Wasallam. So she is the 5th generation grand daughter of our beloved Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alihi Wasallam. She was born in Makkah al Mukarramah in 11th Rabiul Awwal 145 hijra.
In 193 hijra she migrated to Egypt and stayed there still Allah called her back. Egyptians have a very good reputation of receiving and respecting Ahlu Bait. Lucky the people there who has got so many Scholars and Saints resting on their ground! They accepted Sayyidah Nafeesah (R.A) with all honor and admiration.
Sayyidah Nafeesa (R.A) has many great special characteristics. She is from Ahlu Bait descending from Imam Husain as well as Imam Hasan (Raliya Allahu Anhuma). She was an outstanding scholar and many people used to visit her seeking Islamic knowledge. She was very pious and people were flooding to her house seeking blessing (Barakah).
This great saint lady departed from this world in 15th Ramadan 208 hijra. She had shown so many ‘Karamah’ during her life span in this world and is continuing even after her departure to the other world. She had dug her ‘Qabr’ by own hands and used to sit in it and complete recitation of Holy Qur’an many rounds.
The great Imam al Shafiee (150 – 204 hijra) Raliya Allahu Anhu lived during that era. These two great scholars used to share their knowledge frequently. Imam Shafiee (R. A) made ‘wasiyyat’ while he was sick with which he passed away to take his ‘janaza’ to house of Sayyidah Nafeesa (R.A) to perform funeral prayer.
Now her ‘Maqam’ and Masjid is a landmark in Egypt’s capital Cairo. Catch a taxi and tell the driver ‘Sayyidah Nafeesah’, he will take you through busy alleyways of the city to this very popular place. We reached there in an evening and the place was fully crowded with visitors and devotees. We went in through the Masjid and stood right in front of the ‘Maqam’. The place was full with people from various sectors of life.
Later we visited the Masjid to offer Friday Jumua prayer. We saw many ‘janaza’ brought there for funeral prayer. We saw gathering of large group of men reciting surah ‘Yaseen’ (a chapter from Quran) in a Halqah (sitting in a circular formation).
