A journey through wonderful sceneries of Malabar, North Kerala, South India

The beauty Allah has provided on his creations is immaculate. Those who admire beauty of the universe should think of the elegance of the Creator who made them in astounding style. They should think and say “Subhana Allah”! Oh Allah you are Glorious!

Hills, rivers, green fields, trees, flowers, fruits… the sight of which will erase ones stress and tension to an extent! We should be thankful to Allah for making this world so beautiful for the ‘busy’ mankind to relax! Alhamdu Lillah!

Kerala is a south Indian state sandwiched by Arabian Sea in the west and Western Gatts Mountains in the east. Due to this unique nature there are as many as 40 rivers emerging from the mountains and flowing towards the Sea. This makes Kerala abundant with water and infect there are greenery all across with good weather throughout the year.  There is a saying that the name Kerala is derived from Arabic phrase خير الله Khairullah.

Malabar is in north of Kerala which has a good name in history as having trade relations with Arabs and Europe dating back many centuries. It is a wonderful place with people from many religions living in harmony. Majority of inhabitants in Malabar are Muslims. There are plenty of Mosques and Islamic Institutions portraying presence of Islam. Islam is believed to be reached in Malabar during era of Prophet Muhammed Sallallahu Alihi Wasallam. This could be reason why Muslims of Malabar are very strong in their faith and keen in worshipping Allah!

    Brother Nasir,
What I wrote was “There is a saying that the name Kerala is derived from Arabic phrase خير الله Khairullah”. I heard it from many speeches of scholars. Unfortunately I haven’t read it from any book or article. I feel there could be some article on it.

Kerala was a trade destination is ancient times mostly by Arabs. Arabs coming from extreme weather conditions in their territory might have possibly thought on the goodness Allah has given to Kerala and called it Khairullah (خير الله)! By passage of time through generations the name might have pronounced as Kerala.

Again this is an assumption. Allah knows best الله أعلم

Feeling the beauty of this blessed land , Arabs were amazed and said ” Haazaa Khairullah” ( english meaning ” This ( land) is the favour/ mercy of Allah ) ..
So the word gradually got a new form Kerala) ..
