Prophet Mohammad’s (صلى الله عليه و سلم) cloak on display in Turkey
Cloak (بردة) of Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) which was given to renowned Tabee (تابعي) Uwais al Qarni (رضي الله عنه) is counted as one of the major attractions for believers in Turkey. During Ramadan this cloak is exhibited to the public and many people from all over the country flock to view it.
As per one great grandson of Uwais al Qarni (رضي الله عنه) who was interviewed by Al Jazeera TV channel, “Keeping possession of this cloak presented by Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) to our great grandfather is a huge responsibility on our shoulders”. According to him Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) during the famous journey of “accession to heaven” (الاسراء و المعراج) put on this very mantle.
Due to lack of proper conservation in the past some part of the cloak had been damaged, hence prompting its custodians to hand it over to some experts to fix and preserve it. During the preservation process the mantle was not tampered or altered. After the conservation process the cloak is brought back to display to the public in the holy month of Ramadan.
